This is a great lunch spot for my mom and I post doctor's appointment. As soon as we sat down, I ordered a bag of the pork floss mochi cookies that I saw on the counter. I've seen pork floss in buns at bakeries, but not in cookies, so I was instantly curious. It was a soft cookie with a chewy mochi center and not too sweet. We ordered the vermicelli noodle bowls: Combo and the Rockfish. I like that each dish comes with an imperial roll, which are delish! We had to ask for more fish sauce though. We also ordered the caramel sauce wings, which were flavorful and crispy. I know it's good when my mom says 'we can come here instead of going to dim sum' - read: she's already planning our next visit. Service was friendly and helpful. We got there before the lunch rush and was able to find parking easily nearby.

Ba Bar has a unique take on Vietnamese food or what I would describe more as Asian fusion. The restaurant has a very open floor plan and was packed with people which made it feel fun and youthful. We put our name down for a large party, but the wait was surprisingly only 2-3 minutes. Even more surprising, our food probably came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering it. The papaya salad was light and refreshing, a nice complement to the curry dishes. I really enjoyed the sweet potato laksa which had a red curry base. My favorite dish was the Ba Bar green curry which the waiter said was vegan (hands-down best vegan curry I've ever had). The eggplant side dish had a unique taste, but I would not order it again (hard to compare to the insane flavor of a Chinese fried eggplant dish). The Saigon Singapore noodles were a classic dish but lacked flavor. You can't go wrong with the imperial rolls! Overall, I gave this place a 4 because the two curries and papaya salad were so good. Also, the staff were speedy and very polite.

I can't get enough of this place and the variety of soups they have! My favorite here is the duck confit ramen noodle soup! The broth is just so tasty and rich in flavors! I ask for my duck leg to be extra crispy and I don't know how they manage to keep the inside moist and tender, but they do! Their Saigon Wings were also a great, but not quite as tasty as San Tung's from back home. Everyone there were pleasant, offered great suggestions and seemed to like the interactions with their diners. We went during the early afternoon so we got to just relax and enjoy our conversations because the place wasn't crowded. The eclectic vibe was w perfect atmosphere for a relaxing afternoon. Will definitely continue to come here!

Listen, I was skeptical because Vietnamese food is not my favorite, but I was encouraged by a friend to just give it a try. That encouragement along with the good reputation that Ba Bar has, meant I had to try it, and I am glad I did. I ordered a tamarind soda which was deliciously unique, tart and sweet. I also ordered crab garlic noodles. This was okay. The amount of crab you get is not even noticeable, but the noodles do taste good and garlicky (I bought Dungeness crab from the grocery store to add to my leftover noodles). But the real star of the show were the wings! Go on a Tuesday because there is a wing special. These wings were perfectly crispy, and sweet and caramelized. They were absolutely delicious and I'll go back for them again and I'll recommend them. The service was great and attentive. The food came out quickly, but the tables are pretty close quarters so don't expect privacy.

I came here to get lunch with some friends. We were in the mood for some soupy foods and we're not disappointed. The interior was nicely decorated and would bea great place to hang out with friends over cocktails. I got the oxtail pho which was a very interesting addition to a pho dish. It gave the broth a great flavor. Overall I had a good experience, but it was a little pricey. I liked the concept that they were trying to achieve which is Vietnamese street food. But I do think you can get the same for less at other places.

I've been to Ba Bar a couple times over the years, so a review was long overdue! Overall I'd say 3.5 stars is pretty accurate--3 seems a bit low based on my overall experience... therefore, my decision to go with 4 stars. The first time around I stopped in for a drink (or two) with coworkers and quite frankly don't remember what I ordered (this was a few years ago). Although I did enjoy the cute interior from the get-go. During my most recent visit I chose the Vegetarian Vermicelli ($18), which includes a spinach tofu wrap, tofu medley, shiitakes, vermicelli noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumber, pickles, fresh herbs, and peanuts. Overall I was satisfied with a healthy(ish) option complete with protein and veg, although it was a little hard to eat... maybe a bigger bowl would have made it easier to mix the ingredients around for easy well-balanced bites. Next time around I might try another plant-based/veg option, although I was content at the time. The tables are a little close together, apologies to the people sitting next to my friend and I because we had a lot of catching up to do and our conversation was definitely impossible to ignore for anyone in the near vicinity. Service was okay. I don't have much more to say in that regard. I've always been able to find a parking spot in the garage, so that's not a problem. Although it's not perfect, I'd be happy to come back again in the future if a dining buddy wants to get drinks or food at Ba Bar.

Ba Bar is a very nice Vietnamese restaurant and bar across the street from Seattle U. I've been told that it can get very busy, but in the Monday afternoon that I was there, it was a mellow and relaxed atmosphere. It was happy hour, but I found that a lot of the food dishes were only marginally cheaper, and unless you wanted their cocktail specials, it was not a huge saving anywhere. Having said that, the food was good. I had some prawns and eggplant for starters, and a vegetarian phō for main course. The phō had a nice taste to the broth. It could have had a bit more spice, but was filling. My table mates had other dishes, but all were happy with their food. If I had a wish it would be that they had more vegetarian and vegan choices on the menu, and preferably a bit more adventurous.

The perfect place for some cozy food on a cold, rainy night! I came by with a friend a couple nights back, and we were seated pretty quickly despite not having a reservation. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating and made sure we had enough time to pick our options. As I am weak for rice, I decided to go for the Cơm Gà Hội An, while my friend went for the Pho Ga. Service was insanely fast, and our food was out in no time. The food was absolutely perfect. The rice was flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the veggies complemented the whole meal so well. My meal came with a side of broth that really made the whole thing feel so cozy and warm. Plus, there was actually quite a bit of food overall, and I had some left over! Overall, I had a really great time and will definitely be back!

Ba Bar is a solid option, especially in South Lake Union where solid lunchtime options are more rare than other poppin' areas of Seattle (Capitol Hill and Fremont). The atmosphere was buzzing and smelled of tasty Vietnamese eats. We were seated kindly and promptly, and the waiters recommended some of their favorite pho when we asked what was good to try. I got the famous wings and they were a little overly sweet for me. I wish that there was more spice, pepperiness, and savory flavor. Next time, I'll opt for the pho, which was rich, aromatic, and flavorful. Vietnamese food done well is a surefire path to a rewarding culinary experience and Ba Bar does not disappoint.
